F600 cluster

Post by 1982 flareside »

My truck has a 1970 cluster. I was wondering if i need a 1970 f600 cluster or rewire? How hard is it to put in.

the F600 trucks were built in a different time period than our trucks. they didnt change the body style when our trucks were born. our body style wasnt started int he big trucks until later. and they were built up into the dentside era. 1975 or so.

the 70 F100/250 has two different plug connectors. one for gauges and the other for dummy lights. size is the difference on the two different plugs. the F600 gauges used a 67-69 F100/250 plug connector on them. so when using a f600 cluster you want to get the plug with soem extra wiring to redo your 70 connector with. i hate to say it but you will probably have to cut your harness and rewire it to install the F600 cluster into a 70 or newer truck.

Look at this thread for more info:

The good thing is that (at least on mine) the wires for both your truck and the F600 panel use the same color-code, with the exception of the purple one. It helps to get a F600 panel with the complete harness and connector.
