It is not the brand of tach that is valuable. That particular tach is valuable because it is old and a desirable version. Newer SW tachs can be had for $5. It has nothing to do with what company made it, it is specifically when and what it was made for. In this case we have an extremely popular green line 8K tach for a performance car that was made in the 60's or early 70's and is hard to find. You could have the same era blue face marine tach and you will be lucky to find a buyer. Oh yeah, also, if it were a 5K tach instead, you would probably never be able to get any money for it although you could have it rebuilt to 8K specs and have a new face put in it and end up with the same thing for about $500! LOL Hawkrod
For example, here is a brand new vintage Faria tach still in the box that barely cleared $100:

And here is a used Rotunda tach made by Faria (they are the same thing except for the faceplate and you can bet that the Faria will be getting a new one ASAP) that brought over $600:

Re: Junk yard Treasures or Trash?
I'm really impressed with you guys and your knowledge of such pieces, I have a whole new respect for the two on American Pickers. I myself just found the tach to be a cool looking item but what really caught my eye were the gauges on the old 600 panel, I think they are really good looking. Last night I was thinking about the gauges and wondering if they could be fit into the newer 600 panel. That truck has been sitting in the woods for probably 20 years, a tree has grown thru the roof but all the glass is still intact. Anyhow, I betting that when I get back to truck the tach will be gone, that just seems to be my luck. I wanted to get back to it yesterday but that first trip caused my Rheumatoid Arthritis to keep me in bed all day, I'm going to try and make it today and if I do I'll post some pics.

Well I made it back from the bone yard, I picked up the tach, delay wiper switch and panel for $45. I'm going back saturday to pick up the older panel and I'm going to put the gauges from that on the newer panel, I took them apart at the yard and the older ones will fit with just a couple minor adjustments. I'm really stoked
about them old gauges, I think they look awesome. The surface rust on the panel comes right off with a scrubby pad. Also with the wiper switch up on the panel I think I'll grab a choke pull from one of the junkers then I can move my cargo or hazzard switch over to where the wiper switch is now and put the choke in the leftover hole.

I found an old Bronco out in the woods today as I was trying to remember where the old 600 was so I took a couple of pics.

Re: Junk yard Treasures or Trash?
Congrats, great deal, now teh bad news, those Broncos are worth enough in parts to pay for your project. The seats are the same as an F series, the instrument cluster is popular with the 61-66 crowd (it has 4 guages instead of 2 guages and 2 idiot lights!), The air cleaners with snorkel, heat stove, and brackets can bring anywhere from $200-$400 if it is from a V8! If it is a 1970 and has a D0TA-C fan that has a date code from about E69 to F70 you will be dumbfounded what it is worth. Now you need to go back and get those parts as they will pay for the stuff you want! LOL Hawkrod

Re: Junk yard Treasures or Trash?
I thought those seats looked like the ones in my owners manual, did Mustangs use the same ones? I was thinking about seeing how much to get them reupholstered, they are a good looking seat. Wow, I think I will have to grab that speed-o. The engine compartment looked like it was pretty well gutted although I really did'nt look that much, it was the seats and radio that caught my eye. That fan on ebay is CRAZY!
I really have to applaud your knowledge, it sure has opened my eyes
Now that I think about it I just might grab the radio too, I'm sure if I dig around I could probably find the other knob in there somewhere.

Re: Junk yard Treasures or Trash?
Well Hawkrod, you are obviously good at what you do. If you don't mind might I hit you up from time to time for advice? I know what you mean about finding parts, I live in Western New York and with the weather it's hard to find good parts for vehicles 10 years old let alone 40 or 50 years old also with the price of metal the past couple of years most all the yards have crushed most everything more than a few years old.
Thanks alot for all your advice.
Pat
