I'm trying to get some basic diagnostic and testing tools so to start off, I want to get a timing light and a vacuum gauge ( preferably Snap On or other truck brand, atleast for the vacuum gauge). They will come in handy with my current idle problems. Here's a few I found for sale let me know what you think of them. Thanks

Basic Vintage Vacuum Gauge

This gauge is a little newer and more complex but is missing a few pices if you look at the places where they'd be.

This is a Snap On timing light I found on CL nearby

Re: Help with Picking Out Vacuum Gauge and Timing Light
I bought this compression/vacuum gauge http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp ... nt=9090029 and have no complaints. Actron has been around for generations. I got this Actron dwell/tach also http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP7605-Tac ... B00062YUUS Works well but RPM range is limited but good for setting timing and dwell. A good fuel pressure gauge http://www.autozone.com/autozone/access ... 21680_0_0_ With fuel pressure testers, make sure it comes with a banjo bolt adapter.

Re: Help with Picking Out Vacuum Gauge and Timing Light
Those look like some good tools, after some thought I bought the vintage vacuum gauge made by Snap On for $50. It comes with banjo adapters and is from the same circa of the truck it will be used on as an added plus. While on eBay I bought a set of pocket screwdrivers and an old Sears Engine Analyzer for $20 ( presumably unused and in box). Its similar to the one you gave me a link to on ebay in my other post, sargentrs. It has a dwell, tach, and voltage meter. Good call, thanks. As for a timing light, I'm planning to buy the older Snap On one for $50 nearby. All the tools have low prices because they're obsolete now, better for people like us. Can't wait to try all of them out and better yet hopefully fix this truck .
