Well I don't know if I'm too late or not but Lizard Skin makes a great sound deadener/heat shild that sprays on at a mear .040-.060 thickness. It's also water soluable so it cleans up easy. Here's the link to Summit Racing where I got mine.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LIZ-50100/ Just my :2cents:

:D Thanks Terry! Lookin' good on yours too! Keep it up!
I agree with Terry...looks great! How did you install it? Spray on adhesive? Great job! Thanks for the pics.
Thanks! And yes...I used 3M's spray adhesive.

Lizard Skin is good stuff for sure but a little pricey for this go around. My '69 remains to be my low-budget beater until I get my '56 finished. Once that's done, I will revisit the '69 for some improvements and perhaps a complete ground up restomod build. 8)

f100builder......that is the stuff that is foil on both sides with little air bubbles in it correct? I wonder how long the air pockets will last when you walk on it.

It is the stuff but I don't walk around in my truck! :D Realistically though, I'm the only one in my truck 90% of the time and I don't often put my full weight on the floor ever anyway, certainly not in a small pinpointed area that would pop the bubbles easily. I also doubled the layers in both footwells and this is still a small percentage of the total area covered. Regardless of how many bubbles ever get popped (I maintain that it won't be very many at all), the foil will always reflect heat and I would be willing to bet that there will be no measurable change in sound deadening for many years to come. I'm not saying that your point is not well taken but I considered this very thing when shopping around and ultimately, I found that this will do the job that I intended and it was far less expensive than some of the other options which is my goal for this truck...for the time being anyway. When the time comes to really get after this truck (after the '56 is done), it will also be easy for me to just pull it all up and toss it in favor of something that is higher quality and more permanent. It was only 25 bucks after all.

:yt: A buddy of mine put the same stuff in a truck he did about 3 years ago and it still looks and fills like no bubbles have been popped. And he drives his truck everyday.

Have a friend that pulled all the interior out of an S10 with the v 6 in it and put this suff everywhere he could get it. He went crazy with it. lol That was the quietest little truck I ever rode in. I put some in my roof behind the headliner and some sticky back stuff from a friend that worked at BMW in my doors and it made a LOT of difference. Took the tin can sound out of closing the doors and a lot quieter going down the road. Soon as I decide if I cam going to change cabs or fix mine I am going to use the rest of the BMW stuff in my floors and some of the bubble wrap stuff from lowes.

How many water heater blankets did you need to buy to do the floor? How did you apply it to the floor? Just laid it in place or did you use some type of adhesive?
Thanks.

I didn't use the water heater blankets but I did use a variety of insulation products and I did use the spray adhesive to hold it in place plus I wanted it pretty tight to the floor and contours because I was putting down new molded carpet. The spray adhesive works good.

It's been a long time but I'm pretty sure I used this stuff. I bought the 2 ft. wide roll because I figured it would be easier than the 4 ft. to work with. I used the saw-cut grooves in my garage floor as a straight edge and a new blade in my utility knife to make better cuts.

I used 3M's spray adhesive to lay it down.
