Sounds good. Just be ready to work it to keep the wrinkles and bubbles out. Youll have to keep at it to get it smoothed before the glue sets!

You might have done this as well...but when I get to the point that I am ready to do mine, I think I will stick some sound deadening to the roof behind it. Hopefully that will help cut down on the tin can affect our cabs have.

Getting ready to do mine as well. My original isn't in too bad of shape other than the worn color or lack there of. I bought some saddle color vinyl, think I'm going to use a thin pad under it also. I went to Hancock Fabrics for my cloth and noticed while I was looking that they have factory type headliner as well. It's a padded cloth just like the factory material. Just not alot of and the right color choise for me but looks like it would work great. Probably easier than vinyl.

That looks great. Good job. My truck has the white head liner and visors. I took it down a while back and re-painted it. It actually took the paint well as did the visors. I cleaned it all up well before painting and just used an off white paint. Came out well. The visors were my main worry as they were pretty dirty on the top side from never really being pulled down for 40 some years. They cleaned up wll and took the paint well.

Man that headliner looks great! Thats exactly what I want to do to mine. How hard was it to come across the vinyl, is it available at fabric stores? I know that home depot carries the hardboard. Was it difficult to lay it out without any wrinkles?

I got the vinyl and your run-of-the-mill fabric shop. I asked them to roll it onto a tube instead of folding it so I wouldn't have to worry about wrinkles. Laying it out without wrinkles wasn't too difficult if you work quickly to completely unroll it and if you have a surface to work on (like a hard floor) that's bigger than the piece of vinyl you bought. My other tip is to cut the headboard maybe 1/8" smaller than the original, I cut mine 1/8" larger and it was a PITA to get it back in! Make sure you have a second set of hands while reinstalling!
