Sorry Guys, I bought a '77

So after 6 months of constant searching for a '67-'72 I happened to stumble across a beauty of a '77. It was getting closer to me actually needing a vehicle and the other week I went out to an event in Australia we have called the Nostalgia Drags, where the guys (and some girls) all take their classics down the strip. They also have a bit of a show for all the old cars to be displayed in the pit area. As soon as I walk in, there is a shiny F100 just sitting there with the hood up looking all pretty and I notice a "For Sale" sign in the window. Thinking that it would be way out of my price range I get closer and the guy is asking exactly what I'm willing to pay; a few phone calls and a bank cheque later this baby is now mine.

I'll still be visiting here as this is undoubtedly the best vehicle resource site I've come across and I don't have to endure all the adverts of another truck site Hopefully you guys will still be able to help me out with the later model.

Don't ever be sorry you bought that truck. That thing is beautiful. I bet any one of us would have done the same thing after looking at that fine example. Glad you got such a good truck at what you were willing to pay. Now I dont know of any rules that say you cant have 2-F100,s say a great 1977 and a 67-72. Charles

That is beautiful!! My first Ford pickup was a '77....ran that thing for 9 years, and finally wound up with a 429 in it. In a sporadic loss of brain matter, I traded it in on a new Nissan and the original owner bought it back for his wife... she had it less than 6 months and totalled it out I still miss that pickup!!!

well the brake booster is! and the pedals usually go beneath the steering wheel

nice truck man. but please ditch the factory air cleaner and get a BIGGER one and achrome top to match all that trimming. The blue looks way out of place next to all that chrome

Yeah, I couldn't pass on this one. The guy was one of the best people you could ever want to buy a car off, really nice guy showed me every little nook and cranny of the car - a true old school Ford enthusiast. I was looking to spend about $3000 to $4000 (AUS) for something that was at least in solid original condition that I could work on but all I could find was rust buckets, hack jobs and ex-ambulances. We don't have the kind of selection you guys have and things are a bit pricier. I managed to pick this up for $5000 (AUS) and I've already seen one that isn't even as tidy on Ebay with bids up to $8600. That's Australia for you though, we're small fish compared to the rest of the world and we pay dollars for it

Well noticed, the steering wheel is on the right. This is a factory delivered Australian XLT in Vermillion Red, I think the Australian ones were made in Canada and then shippped out here for putting together the other way round. Aparently they would all come out here in white and then painted your choice when ordered but they would leave the roof white. They also put Australian compliance plates on to replace the VIN plate from the factory so I don't have the original VIN details (unless it's hidden somewhere). It definitely needs a nice new shiny chrome air cleaner to light up the engine bay and a few other things here and there - power steering would definitely help! Also needs a run on a dyno as the carbie's acting up a bit but nothing serious!!!

I'll try and take some more pictures on the weekend when I get this thing out on the road.

jd, I was thinking the same thing, it might be hard to drive with the pedals not on the same side as the steering wheel. Sorry Ivan, couldn't resist a little good natured funnin'

Nice lookin truck. I've got one of each.
A 68 F-250, and a 74 F-100. I like them
both... Some will say the 67-72 are better,
and they might be to an extent, but the
73-79 line is still a pretty dang good truck..
It's really not a whole lot different. In fact,
a good many of my parts will exchange
between the two.. I've been getting set up
to transfer many old VHS tapes to DVD.
One of the tapes was a trip to AR we took
in the 74 back in 1989. I didn't own the truck
at that time, but it still looks about the same
now, as it does in these video snaps..
I noticed one thing... The freaking macrovision
that they built into my vid card is messing
with many of my VHS plays. Even stuff that
is not copyrighted. On my old tapes that
were recorded at EP, my video cards sees
any noise, etc, as macrovision pulses, and
is "blooming" my video.. @$#&$*(*(
So I'm going to have to buy a video stabilizer
to clean it up.. But those will also let me cut
true macrovision pulses too... So I guess not a
total waste of $$$... But I think it's ridiculous that I
should have to buy one of those to be able to
record my own video to DVD.. I have a circuit
I could build for one of those, but I may just
buy one off e-bay... IE: Sima unit, etc..
