Penetrating Oil

Post by jor »

I usually use PB Blaster and really like it. Here's another recommendation from a Usenet group I frequent. I'm going to pick up a can of it and I'll post how it goes. Here's the original post followed by an explanation.
jor
Best stuff I ever used.
Go to your local GM dealer and get a can or two of Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor, GM Part Number 1052627.

This is some of the BEST stuff I have ever used! When I had my Tercel in '03, (it was a '95) I sprayed all the nuts and bolts I though might have to be removed in the next 5 years or so with the stuff. It made rusty old bolts look BRAND NEW! I sprayed the Scion under the hood with it just now, and you can WATCH the rust disappear! I sprayed everything that I think might need to be replaced, the valve cover, horns, radiator hold-downs, etc. It will probably smell like burning oil for the new hundred miles or so, but the stuff REALLY WORKS!

Paid $9.03 per can (I thought it was going to be $12 a can) well worth it! Blows anything similar into the weeds, ie WD-40, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, ETC.
Oh, no, definitely not PB. Quite different. It seems to have graphite. Here, I have a can right on my desk! Let's look:

I'll be damned! UIt says right on the can, this is NOT PB Blaster!
No, really, though:
Petroleum Naptha
Water...WATER?!
2-Butoxyl ethanol (DON'T LIGHT A MATCH!)
9-Octadecenoic acid-Ammonium salts
Liquified petroleum
Methyl amyl alchohol

I do know from experience, it works better than PB...

I'll bet it's marketed under some unique nomenclature like TRI-FLO.

GM doesn't have the heads up to have something that cool, unless they ripped it off of somebody.

I believe that it's on their mission statement...

If you haven't tried it, Kroil is the best penetrating oil I've found so far! I tried PB, Liquid Wrench, and a bunch of others, then found Mouse Milk, and that's gotta be the second best, but when I tried Kroil, I was amazed!!!

It is made by a company in Florida. The company I used to work at in Houston used it and I liked it so much I got the company in Tucson to carry it.
PM me if you want to try it and I will get you one.(free of course)

I prefer to use Type-F ATF. It hasn't failed me yet. Try it.

Royal Purple makes a real good penetrating oil. I had never used it till I was on OverHaulin' and it worked real good. But you pay for the name.
