working on a interchange need help

Post by fordman »

to make a long story short. would someone who has a bendix automatic column in there truck please make two measurements for me. the first measurement is from the bottom of the column inside mounting flange to the end of the column. not the end of the shaft. the second measurement from the bottom of the column and not the shaft up to the tun signal collar right below the steering wheel. and please tell me if its a manual or power bendix box in your truck. if your column is in your truck it is real real hard to get a correct measurement. so i am asking those who have there column out of their trucks to make these measurements. i might have some cool interchange info if the measurements turn out the way i think they might. its a long story.

Hey Fordman...

Since the Bendix PS box has the same dimensions as a standard box, wouldn't the column be the same as one with a 4-speed (only with an auto shifter tube).
I have a 4 speed standard column, with a shorter centershaft (for my PS upgrade) out in the bus...
If you think it is the same, I could measure it for you.

Let me know...

Hey Fordman,

Here's those measurements you needed...

first measurement
from the bottom of the column inside mounting flange to the end of the column.
3 7/8" bottom (long side) 2 1/2" top (short side)

second measurement
from the bottom of the column up to the turn signal collar right below the steering wheel.
29"

please tell me if its a manual or power bendix box in your truck.
Standard steering with 4-speed trans

Hope that works for ya...

to the top of the mount to the collar? is that like in the pic? i needed from the bottom of the mount to the bottom of the column. i am not measuring the column seal bracket at all since it is not stationary. 11 1/4 doesnt sound right.
