re: turn signal flasher
Hey floyd67,
The 2 wires going to the flasher primary flasher are
#8 = orange/yellow stripe
That's the power feed that originates at the fuse box...
it makes a couple of changes between the fuse box and the flasher unit.
#44 = solid blue (can be either light or dark blue but has no stripe)
Circuit 44 feeds the turn signal switch.
The wires should be connected to a two hole female connector that looks like an "L" ...
Hope that helps...

re: turn signal flasher
Hey Floyd67
It should have dawned on me that you were working on a '67 buy yer name...
Looking at the 67 wiring diagram, it shows circuit #8 going from the wiper switch to connecter "L" where it turns into circuit # 297 which is the black wire with a green stripe that goes to your flasher unit.
However it doesn't list a color for circuit #8.
It is tied to circuit #950 on the wiper switch, which is listed as being black on the wiper & washer diagram. If you can locate circuit #950 on the wiper switch you can tell what color circuit #8 is...
Circuit #44 which also goes to the flasher is still a blue wire...
Hope that helps...

re: turn signal flasher
did you figure out your wires yet?
If i can get pics onto computer i will try to post mine, they are hanging under dash in the replacement flasher. I know 1 is white /red stripe, located just to the right of the column. and there are total of 3 wires. 2 connectors.

re: turn signal flasher
on my 67 (and this is from memory as the truck isnt near me) i had one orange and one light blue(i think)
But from the life of me i had so much trouble with mine the whole cirrcuit wasnt getting power...i ended up making it powered with a switched 12v line and inline fuse...as all the wiring and connection checked ok ...but on my 67 it had 2 different flashers....
Maybe if Thunderfoot chimes in here he could tell you..he is really good with the electrical on these trucks

re: turn signal flasher
Floyd, not sure what exactly your after, but I took the 67 wire diagram and edited it so that only the wires for the Flashers are in the diagram. The colors on the diagram are for illustration purposes only, use number and color code on diagram.
There are two flashers, the one for the turn signals is mounted to the back side of the instrument cluster....
Here is the Diagram, click it to expand...

re: turn signal flasher
Just FYI floyd67...
The regular flasher may or may not be connected to the instrument panel, it could be just hanging loose some where behind the panel.
If I'm not mistaken, the orginal flasher units were in a plastic housing with a nub on the top that stuck into a hole in the back of the panel.
If it has been replaced (which after 40 years you can pretty much assume that it has) the metal ones don't have the nub so they just hang loose from the wiring harness.

Hey Thunderfoot...
How'd U do that...
There are some circuits listed on this one that arent listed on the one posted here...
This one's alot easier to read... can U do that for a '68 ???

Re: re: turn signal flasher
You like that... I looked at a couple of the diagrams to find the missing wire and then erased all the other wires that were not being used so you could see it better.kaptnkaos wrote:Hey Thunderfoot...

I think the 68 is the same as the 69, I will take it and work it this way and send it to you. Gives me something to do at work...

re: turn signal flasher
Umm, no disrespect to anyone, but I had to change the turn signal flasher out on my 67, and while I don't recall what color the wires were, I can tell you it wasn't mounted on the instrument panel, nor did it resemble any flasher I've ever seen before. It was mounted on a brace, (kind of like the one you see when you pull the radio out), behind the instruments about half way to the firewall. Was a black box about 2 1/2" square and about 1 1/2" tall. Pain to get out! Couldn't find any info at the time so I cut the wires off at the box, put connectors on the ends, and plugged in a late model style flasher and it's worked ever since. Maybe mine's just an oddball and I just got lucky on the hook up.?
