Blower Motor

Post by Blue Cloud »

I've been having some problems with my heater the last few months thats has me scratching my head. The blower stopped working one morning this spring. I figured that I had blown a fuse but the fuse was O.K., so I changed the blower motor out with a spare I had. It still would not blow so I rechecked the fuse again and stuck in a new one, still nothing. So I checked both the heater motor and they both work. Then I checked the wire connections, still nothing. After searching the site I think it might be the blower motor resistor. I never had to change one of these out before and I'm not real sure where it's located on the heater case or whats involved in getting to it. So before I start tearing things out I don't need to I thought see if anyone had any hints or tips. I looked under the dash but can't see it. Do I need to remove the heater case?

check the fuse again. My 69 used to pull that trick. Push the fuse where it snaps into the panel & see if that doesn't make the connection. If you do have to change the resistor, it's a small 3 or 4 pin connection on top of the blower plenum, under the dash. Not hard to change.

From looking at the pics I could find it looks like one of those jobs where I'll be upside-down in the floor of the truck, doing it all by "feel". Anyway, it'll have to wait for a couple of days, I just got called to go to work and wont be back for a day and a half or so.
