Choke cable

Post by Joshpow »

I bought a choke cable from a 67 to use on my 72. The knob of course is the 67 style. I'd like to change the knob if possible. Is the knob removeable? If so, how does it come off. I think I can get a knob from LMC to replace it. I just want to know if it is replaceable and how hard it is. Any info would be great.

i dotn think you can get a replacement knob. because i know of no way to get either style off of the cable without trashing the cable.

You could possibly get a 72 knob and inside cable from a 72. Simply pull the knob and cable out of the housing cable and replace it. But, if you're doing that, you just as well get a 72 cable assembly complete and use the entire thing and your problem is over. The knob is not easily replaceable by itself.

I know there is a replacement knob sold. I just looked in LMC. If I can't, I'll get the one from a friend's bump bus and get the knob and cable out. I'll cut it down and use it in the housing I have. The housing on the bus cable is stretched, so I can't use it.

That'd be no problem if the knob broke. Just wondering if anyone had changed theirs to see if it is a huge undertaking. May just get the cable from the bus for now.
