Transplant 93"to70" NEED WIRING HELP!

Post by V Majestyk »

Happy holiday season , Ford folks. Allow me to share some recent events down Tucson way. My old 70"F250 CS is too tired to pass emissions anymore. Sad but true. Next joyous event of the season: My 93'E150 conversion"family hauler" blows the rear diff. shortly after I drop $3K+ into my E-AOD,full rebuild/upgrade.So I bite the bullet, and become the proud owner of a minivan. Family transpo crisis solved ! BACK TO WHY I'M HERE... I'm left with a good 351w/E-AOD from van that has exceeded it's financial viability, and my old F250...Can anyone give me the short course on what to strip from the '93 to support the EFI and E-AOD in the'70F250 . I need to make lemonade from lemons with minimal cash , HELP!!!!
Don't need re-stored,can,t wear the d*mn thing out !

There are several people here with all the details but you need the complete wiring harness from under the hood at least as far as the Tranny.

Do a search for EFI conversions on this site.

The engine mounts will have to change unless you had a 302 in your 72 truck.

you'll need the wiring harness and the computer. plus the motor mounts from a smallblock truck. as well as a rear trans mount and correct length driveshaft. thats just the basics.

Electrically the swap is a breeze: leave the '70 wiring in place and use the main harness from the '93 along with the PCM (for EFI and overdrive control). You'll want to take all the sensors from the '93 (along with the O2 sensors) to install on the '70. The nightmare will be in placing the kickdown and TV linkages to the '70. You'll have to take the geometry from the '93 and calculate the force from the linkage (or, if you don't like reverse engineering, get the force and travel data and create your own linkages). You'll burn up that AOD-E in short order with incorrect linkage.

im basically doing what you are doing to my 70/72 i have a 351w and a m5r2 5 speed im putting in. Im basically have the entire engine and under the dash harness and i am gonna try all the old wiring that is needed for the light switch, heater, wipers, radio, and turns/brake into the 92 fords harness. A little more than you are doing but if you dont let it intimidate you it will be a breeze.

Just dont mount the computer into the engine compartment it is sensitive to heat and moisture
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

Don't put it near the heater core either above the glove box is a good place.

By the way that is where GM put theirs on the 1500 to 3500 series. In those trucks it is a real pain to get to.
