'70 heater control removal

The temp. control cable seems to have seized up on my truck. I got it loosened up a few weeks ago with some penetrating oil and some wiggling. the other day, I tried the same thing, but this time it feels like I may have bent something at the control end. How do i get the control panel out of the truck so I can get a look at what I might have broken?

the panel has two nuts on the backside of it to remove it. the easiest way to look at it would be to pull the stock radio out and look. or maybe the glove box liner.

No radio in my truck. It has the cover plate. I can't figure out how to get that out either. Its plastic and I'm afraid I'll break it.

i think they bolt in also . but they could just be a push in thing too. i need to find out because the new truck i'm getting has one of those in it.

You might be able to see it somewhat if you take out the glovebox insert. Other than that, removing the radio or cover plate is the best way to see inside.

Yep, just two small nuts hold that into the dash. You can reach up under the dash and feel them. The easiest way to remove them is with a 1/4" drive ratchet and deep-well socket.
