I got a wire harness

Post by sport71 »

On evil-bay and I don't know if it is for lights or guages. Does anyone know which is which? or can I use either?

I do not recall the exact number, but the number of wires and the instrument cluster wire plug is different. The larger (longer) plug is for gauges. The dummy light harness plug is shorter. Hope this helps. Someone should chime in soon with the correct number of wires.

what year is it for? the 70-72 have atleast two harnesses like was already stated. the longer plug and the shorter plug. the 70 though is a one year only harness wheather it be for lights or guages it is a one year only harness. it will only work with the 70 clusters. the plug is the easiest way to tell. heres a pic or two abotu half way down the page. http://www.fordification.com/67-72ID.htm

My 70 F250 has a shorter connector for dummy lights and my 70 F100 has a longer connector for gauges. I didn't realize they were different until I had to test the wiring to get my fuel gauges working.

It's 67-69 for sure. The harness is set up for A/C so it's not a base modle, Oh well I'll see what I can do..

No, they have both full gauge and idiot lights... The connector has a couple wires in different locations + the Turn Signal Flasher power wire is on a separate connector on the one for full gauges. The main connector looks the same just wired different.

If we're talking about the same part, that is the Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator (IPVR). This is what supplies the ~6Volts for the gauges.

yup its set up with the A/C, now all I have to worry about is getting the right inserment guage cluster. I have the new front face for it. I turned the speedo miles to 000000 so it will all be like new...
