Firewall question.
What can I do to better seal where the heater core pipes come through the firewall?

Re: Firewall question.
Take a round, thick piece of material, such as rubber, with a 5/8" hole in the center and slide it onto the heater core pipes before you put the hoses on.

Re: Firewall question.
ford made regular rubber seals to go around the hose holes. i dont know if you can get some from a vendor or just walk into the parts store and buy something like that. they would be similar to a protector for for electric wiring going through a piece of metal like a firewall.

Hey Tim!
I haven't tried this stuff, but you could give it a whirl. It looks easy to apply, at least.

When I worked for an AMC/Jeep dealer back in the early 70's, we used a lot of that stuff for sealing around cables, hoses, etc. It works pretty good, and is easy to use.robroy wrote:Hey Tim!

I would research what Fordman said about the grommets. That would provide protection against chafing of the heater hoses, where the caulk would not.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
