f-600 Cluster Upgrade re-wire sort of Tutorial

Post by mljjones67 »

Well I played with my 1968 F-600 gauge cluster tonight. And I figured out a way to wire it with the old f-250 wiring harness. No splices or messing with the plug. I took off all the factory black tape and re-taped it the way I liked it and so I could have a longer harness to install and remove the whole cluster. Now the only difference I could find in the 67 f-250 and 68 f-600 were 3 wires. The three wires were all tied into each other inside the tape in the harness. So they went to the same place on each cluster. The only difference was in the color of the three wires for the Fuel, Temp, and Oil gauges. The 67 f-250 had black with green stripe and the f-600 had black with white stripe. I just plugged the black with green stripe onto the f-600 post that said black with white stripe. I assume it is the common ground for all the three gauges. This is untested but I think it will work. Alt gauge was the same wiring for each. I separated the flasher wires so I could mount it else where. Hope this helps someone down the road.
