Tap Magic is good all around fluid.OldRedFord wrote:What products do you guys like to use wen threading a hole or bolt?

Rapid-tap is also good
Dark cutting oil with about 30% moly assy. lube is good in hard steels and stainless steels, you want the green stinky assy.lube it has the most molly in it.
go-jo hand cleaner is the best in cast iron.
The key is the physical property's of the material and tool, then pick the fluid.
also when tapping 1/2 turn in 3/4 turn back ,in a blind hole pull tap out and clean it and blow out hole often .Also always use the smallest tap handle you can
that way you will be less likely to break tap

Re: Taping fluid
Good ol' Lard. Where I grew up everybody used it and even some guys around here do. In the little experience I have with tapping, I've used it and it works good. Never tried anything elso though.

Re: Taping fluid
Like steve said you gotta pick your lube based on the material. Cast iron is different from everything else. I use diesel fuel in cast with great results. For tapping in my machines it's the soluable oil they have in thier sumps.
