Those of you with steel door panels...

Have you replaced the screws with stainless ones? If so what size?

I haven't replaced them but I'll pull one out and take it in to work tonight. See if I can find it in stainless. If I can I' let you know in the morning. I'm doing a overnight shift in our electrical department tonight, Oh joy!

I have replaced mine with Stainless but I don't remember what size they were. It's been several years. Sorry

If i recall correctly, I beleive they were #8's I bought a box of ss screws at the hardware store, saved a boat load of money, and still have a bunch of them left over... I even used some to put the scuff plates in, and on the instrument cluster...

I have a 71 with the Explorer package. The door panels are vinyl and I was wondering if I would be able to replace them with the steel panels?

Thanks for your help.

I used #10 3/4 inch oval head for mine. I'd gotten an assortment set from Auto Zone. Had to go check to see for sure - by looking to see which compartment was empty. I also just tried a #10 1 inch and it worked too.

I used stainless bolts on my metal door panel.

I had a bunch of 1/4" x 20 j-nuts laying around, so I used those on the door. Then, I purchased stainless 1/4" x 20 x 3/4" (length) oval head phillips bolts and stainless 5/16 finish washers.

Here's a pic for ya.
