Run stock gauges and a rally pack?
Anyone try running both the factory oil and water temp gauges and an aftermarket three gauge cluster? I kinda like seeing the temp and the actual pounds of pressure, but I just rewired the whole truck and would like to run the factory gauges too...

Re: Run stock gauges and a rally pack?
It would be pretty easy to use a second set of sending units to power the second set of gauges. Just remove the sending unit, screw a T into the hole, and then put a sending unit in each side of the T, with one wired to the stock gauges and the other to the add-on gauges.
That would work for the oil pressure anyway. AFAIK the aftermarket mechanical water temperature gauge has a long sensor that probably wouldn't screw into a T, so you'd have to find a different place on your engine to install the second temp sensor or a non-standard T that would accept it.

For the second temp sensor, you could screw it into the thermostat housing.
It wouldn't give you an accurate reading until the thermostat opened, but after the engine is warmed up, it should be VERY close!!

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
That's not an oil leak

Hmm, sounds plausible. Suppose the best way is to play with it and see what I make of it...
