All, I had this problem a while back and now another fellow bumpsider, Don has the same issue. Our trucks are '71s built in San Jose. The jack handle retaining clips on the cab floor seem to be in a different location to other trucks and we can't seem to get the handles to fit. Perhaps there is a trick, or there was a different handle for that year or factory. Please take a look at the original thread below that has my photos of the issue. If any of you have '71 San Jose trucks, we'd both love it if you could look at how your jack handle is stored and let us know what we're missing! Thanks, Patrick (and now Don).

Mine's a San Jose, built in Sept. of '70. For some reason I'm thinking my lug wrench is under the hood with the jack. Now you've got me curious and I'll have to look tonight! By the way, your '71 looks awesome.

Thanks, would be great if you could let me know. I'm not as concerned about the lug wrench (mine goes under the seat), more so the long, thin jack crank handle, which I can't seem to get to fit without it basically putting a huge dent in my floorpan. Patrick

Re: Calling all '71 San Jose owners!
Well, it looks like I can't help. I too have some brackets for holding this equipment under the seat. Unfortunatley, some one has taken both my jack, wrench, and crank handle and placed them under the hood.
The lug wrench is in with the jack, held down by the same bracket, the long handle is laying between the radiator and core support across the truck. Not bad, though. THe handle for the crank comes down between the core support and the jack. The jack is pushed against it to keep it from moving around. Seems to work well, nothing was wearing. I hadn't even noticed it was there! Good luck!

Re: Calling all '71 San Jose owners!
all my bumps are san jose trucks...i have a 71 f250 4x4 , a 72 f250 4x4 and a 72 CS 4x2. not sure if the 4x4s are differant but the 71 4x4 truck is at my dads, but both 72s are here in Santa Cruz with me I can check them but not sure if the exact time of production from the San Jose plant is crucial....?

Re: Calling all '71 San Jose owners!
I think the key is that the black clip on the slanted part near the door is in the same location as ours, as are the studs. If you look at the other trucks in the other thread it is in a different location to my 71 and some of the others.
