Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps?
Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps? I know the glass is the same so I figured they would. If so, do they have the same ratio as well? If they're quicker, I'd get both sides.
I'm thinkin' that they're the same all around if I can remember my dad's old '79 correctly.

I'm 99% sure they are not the same as the bumpsides.
Looking at Dennis Carpenter's catalog online, they show one part number for 67's, one part number for 68-72's, and a different part # for the 73-79's.

Thanks and...crap. Now I gotta go hunting again. I may be able to fix the right one but not sure. Perhaps it just needs lubed up. It goes down real easy but it feels like it's gonna break trying to roll it up. Afraid to roll it down anymore until I look at it.

Re: Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps?
It looks like I may need some anti-rattle kits for both doors though as I'm getting too much rain water and wash water inside the doors...the flat coil spring was all crusty and rusted which made rolling the window up very difficult. I had a spare spring that was pretty clean so I wire-brushed and WD40'd the crap out of it as well as the pinion gear and it's smooth as silk now. Now I won't have to hunt for a replacement or buy a new one...but two new anti-rattle kits are in my future.

Re: Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps?
I was just going to suggest checking the spring out. I had my window regulators rebuilt when I first got my truck and the passenger side always went up real hard. I figured it was from lack of use lube so took it apart and discovered that the spring had been installed backward, it was forcing the window down and trying to prevent it from going up.
I thought that maybe the same guy rebuilt your regulator but glad you got it fixed.

The door glass is not the same, only the windshield is '67-'79.F100builder wrote:I know the glass is the same so I figured they would

Yeah...upon my research for the regulators I found this to be true.cep62 wrote:The door glass is not the same, only the windshield is '67-'79.F100builder wrote:I know the glass is the same so I figured they would

Re: Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps?
While those carpenter catalogs are definitely not error free, they are right on Ford's different number for the 67 regulator. I've never really wasted any time trying to figure out just what the difference is but the all regulators from 67-72 interchange just fine. I've got a 78 sitting here that I can pull a reg off to see if it matches...
Good to hear you've got yours working again.

Re: Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps?
the 67 regulator has a longer stem for the window crank. thats the onyl difference. i used a 69 regulator in my 67. i had to use a longer screw to hold the handle to the regulator. that was my only problem with using the 69 regulator.

Re: Do the window regulators from a dent fit our bumps?
Thanks but I found that they are indeed different. Not only Dennis Carpenter but LMC also shows different part numbers and pics. LMC however, sells just one for the '67-'72's but they sell an adapter for use on the '67 while Carpenter sells one for the '67 alone, another for the '68-'72, and yet another for the '73-'79. The Carpenter ones are more expensive but they claim to use original Ford tooling for theirs (they also have a less expensive and most likely, imported one). I'm sure the LMC ones are imported too.mk wrote:While those carpenter catalogs are definitely not error free, they are right on Ford's different number for the 67 regulator.
