Disassemble the dash...

I checked the Tech/Tutorials section and the forums, but couldn't find it. I tried messing with taking my dash apart, but no luck.

When I was messing with the heater control this week it was so dirty it was disgusting! I want to remove the dash so I can more easily get into everything and clean it! It will also help with me reorganizing the medusa of wires hanging around the cab of my truck courtesy of the previous owners.

well the dash really doesnt come apart. but all of the accessoires come out of the dash and the heater box can be dropped off of the firewall to really see up under there. but truely. once the instrument panel glove box and radio are removed. you really can see more than enough to tel more about the under the dash situation. dropping the heater box may be the thing to do since you are reconnecting the heater cables and adjusting them.

Well, I guess what I really meant was how to remove the dash pad.

I think if I can get the dash pad out along with the glove box, radio, heater controls, I will have plenty of light and access to everything I need :D

it wotn give you much light to remove the dash pad. but there are 14 nuts to remove the dash pad. several of them through the nose of the dash. at the ends too. as well as you will have to pull the radio inst clustewr and glove box to get easy access to the nuts.

I've uninstalled two and installed one. I pulled out the cluster, ashtray and glovebox to get to everything. The ones behind the radio are a bear to get to unless you have small hands, so yeah, pull the radio too like he said.

Take care not to force removal, or bend it too far. The blow molded foam is a lot more fragile than you may think.

But honestly, to get to what you want to, you dont have to take the dashpad off. Its all accessible from the front and beneath.
