Dropping a C6 from a 71

Post by bwc302 »

How is the best way to remove the front trans cross member so that the trans can be dropped? From looking it seems like it will take a hammer, time and a bigger hammer''

I didn't know if the folks with experience on this had any tricks that you could tell me about.

Do you just have to take out the bolts and beat it with a hammer on both sides to get it out? There does not seem to be enough slack in it to work it out from one side only (this I have tried).

It is ready to drop, but it is hung on the front cross member.

Thanks,

Bobby

It will come out. It will fight you. You'll need a prybar and big hammer.

You have to slide it back pretty evenly. Once it is past the mounts you can drop it down. Watch the wires and hoses onthe left side. Once you get it to drop down it will come out pretty easily.
