Glove Box

Post by olred70 »

I have a 70 F100 with a glove box that only opens when I pry it while holding the latch. Is there supposed to be a spring to help push it out , and where does it mount? Thanks

Here's what you need. The plastic piece put through the spring and pops into a hole on the right side of glove box on dashboard. I have looked high and low for the plastic part aftermarket. You can find the glove box bumpers and the spring just not the spring retainer. So grab them when you are at a pic & pull

Hmmmm :hmm: I wonder if something like this would work? Adjustable for height/thickness. Click it together to compress the spring just a hair and then put a drop of Super Glue on it so it doesn't move.

You don't need any type of auxillary spring. The latch itself pops the door open when released. Either thoroughly clean and lube the existing latch or buy a new one from NPD or many of the other suppliers.

Make sure the glove box door is aligned and opens freely, not hanging .
