Looking for tips on front clip removal

Post by 66f250cs »

Getting ready to remove front clip from my 69 F250. Thought it might be easier to remove engine plus patch holes in rad support. Any tips for speedy, painless removal would be appreciated. Also, what is rough weight? Thanks.

There really isn't an easy way. I recommend ordering 50 5/8" long fender bolts and 50 3/4" long ones. Along with 50 shallow U nuts and 50 deep U nuts ahead of time. You'll also need some really long bolts for the radiator support.

Otherwise, remove hood, wiring, cooling etc. Unbolt inner fenders and outer fenders from cab (don't forget the bolt behind the door hinges). Remove bumper and remove radiator support bolts. It's pretty light, two person lift without issue.

I know this is an old thread but just curious on where would you order the fender bolts and u-nuts from?

Also, McMaster Carr carries just about everything. May not be OEM but will fit the application.
