Re: Trans linkage
Hey Randy, doesn't the round end (like in my pic) go on the tranny (like DuckRyders?) and the threaded end on the column? I bought a new bushing yesterday because I thought that might be the way it goes. Has anyone tried making one on the line of the way I make my throttle linkage?sargentrs wrote: rod goes in from the front side.

Re: Trans linkage
Yours looks correct except that the bushing and rod come into the lever from the front side vs the firewall side where you have yours laying in the first picture.

Re: Trans linkage
Nope. Threaded end at the transmission. Adjustment is done down there.Ron_Hall wrote:Hey Randy, doesn't the round end (like in my pic) go on the tranny (like DuckRyders?) and the threaded end on the column?
I've never seen a tranny rod made with heim joints like that throttle linkage but I wish someone would. I've seen a lot of threads where people lost theirs and needed one. Would be nuce to have a design handy.

Re: Trans linkage
Ok, next question, is the shaft straight? mine is and when I put the threaded end in the tranny bracket the angle to the column is not right.sargentrs wrote:Nope. Threaded end at the transmission. I'm still thinking about the Hiem setup also. ...you could even put the small end on the tranny and modify the threaded end to take the Heim joint?? maybeee all in all seems like it would be better than fighting the nylon joints and easier adjustments..
Anyway, thanks for the help from both you and DuckRyder

Re: Trans linkage
I’m nearly certain mine has a kink in it, but give me an hour or so and I will look.

Re: Trans linkage
Definitely bent, about an inch or two above the threads maybe about 30 degrees. Can’t really get a good picture.
I can maybe take some more precise measurements tomorrow... It is about to be a frog choker / gully washer though ....

Re: Trans linkage
That makes total since!!! That's why the threaded end didn't line up to the trany. I'll start with the 30 degrees and tweek it till it fits.DuckRyder wrote:Definitely bent, about an inch or two above the threads maybe about 30 degrees. Can’t really get a good picture.

I bought a 3' 3/8-24 all thread for $4 and (2) 3/8-24 Heim joints from Summitt for $8.
I'll put a couple jam nut on it and try to come up with a way to cover the all thread. also would like to have a better fasting system for the brackets to Heim.
What I did at the bracket was cut the small end off the nylon bushing and drill the hole out to 23/64 and put a 3/8 bolt in it.
Shifting is very smooth and I see no problems so far.

Re: Trans linkage
Great idea! Did you leave the rod straight? No binding?

Re: Trans linkage
Yeah, straight.. I don't see or feel and binding. The all-thread is zinc coated and I thought about sliding a piece of heat shrink tubing over it but then it might trap moisture. Any thoughts?sargentrs wrote:Great idea! Did you leave the rod straight? No binding?
