instrument guage

Post by hmills »

I'm thinking about replacing my worn out instrument guage with the same style but a cleaner/newer looking one. Any one know if there are any issues i need to be aware of? eg. odometer reading.

Most vehicles I've seen that are this old have 'TMU' (True Mileage Unknown) on the title. It's nothing to even be remotely concerned about, unless you replace yours with a lower-mileage odometer and then try to pass it off as original miles....which of course is illegal.

You can either replace your instrument panel with that from an F600 and then either use the stock gauges or replace them with regular aftermarket versions (I just happen to have one listed in the Auctions section...*hint hint*)...or you can get a billet aluminum insert for your existing panel and use the aftermarket gauges. The inserts themselves are normally around $125.

if i switch to a f600 gauge set i'm going to roll the miles to match what my truck says now. and document what i did so it will be as original as i can get by going that way.

I recently bought an NOS speedo for my F600 panel, so mine's gonna start off at zero miles....which is appropriate, considering it's basically going to be a brand new truck. :D

i did that with mine when the old speedo gear in the dash craapped out.

Rolled the new one back upto the 28,000 it had on it when it broke plus added 125 miles to amount for the trip to get the part.

of course the donor part was already reading 23,500 so it weren't too hard.

Probably look in a junk yard or on E-bay. I saw some links on here yesterday for a cluster. I have a few junk yards that I'm gonna check to find one.
