I can't answer your question but maybe steer you in the direction of an answer.

Try looking in the factory literature brochures and one for the 72 year salesman brochures might show it?
I don't believe I ever saw one through the years here? Also maybe send our moderator Greg a PM as he's owned and worked on the highboy's his entire life.

I have never seen a -250 highboy shortbed; and I've been around a long time.

me neither. it is not listed as an option available in the dealer brochure. only 8 foot bed f250 4wd. you aint gonna believe a 67 short bed trailer i got home with today. 1967 shortbed with a California tag on it.

OK . Technically my 1967 F262 truck originally came with the long bed but it had the short wheel base with it. I checked the numbers on the frame with the tag as it came with a six , four speed and 4.56 gears. I have finally begun to work on it after way too many years. My son and I just rebuilt the 390 I installed back in 84 to replace the old 6 it came with..
Used to race and beat Porsches off the line ain the 80's nd once carried 2-1/2 tons of damaged bricks up some hills to the dump to see if I could overload it . Had picture of me and it 5-6 feet up in the air but I lost the pic.
Saved my life too but that's a different story,,,
