72 F100 rag joint removal

Guys, is there any way to remove the upper rag joint from the steering shaft? I read somewhere that it’s pressed on and then mushroomed so it won’t come off? Can I just leave that upper half on and use the lower half from the new rag joint to get this done? I’m open to other options… Tia
