I got a bug up my but and decided to hide the ugly on my kick panels(I think thats what there called). I think it turned out rather good. The edge of the carpet is under the door weatherstrip to help hold it while the silicone dries, the carpet is bound all the way up the door edge. Now I have to get some carpet for the floor.

ya know when I saw the tltle to the thread, I though how good will this look? But, when I saw it I was plesantly surprised how well it looks. Nicely done!
I had to cut out and rust repair my kick panels and weld in new sheet metal. If I cant get them to look good with my amature body work skills, I will definetly be doing this. I would imagine it would help with noise also.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to use contact cement when you glue it on or go to a carpet store and get carpet glue. My old man owned a carpet store for 30 years and thats the way we did it.

On my '72 that black plastic vent, helps chop up all the leaves trapped in the fresh air ducting before they blow through the cab and out the windows. This creates an environmentally correct confetti parade as I drive down the road.
When you have a shell on the bed, you have to get creative in order to have leaves blowing out.

Thanks for the compliments. If you guys decide to try this I got the carpet at wal-mart ($20.00 for a 5'x7') and its bound all the way around it so I cut it out so the bounding goes up the weather striping for the door. I made a pattern using paper and tape, tracing and cutting until I got a near perfect fit.( I still ended up triming the carpet after I cut it out) Do the passenger side pattern first so you can cut it up to fit the drivers side. I used silicone for glue and it seems to hold up real well and quick so your not holding it there until it sticks, the only problem is you get a little high or a headache from the fumes until it dries. Just make sure you have your pattern going the right way before you cut the carpet or its going to be backwards.
Good luck Toast
